Traditional holiday parade in Downtown Memphis floats into history:
Downtown is scrapping its traditional Christmas parade in favor of family-oriented festivities and a lighting display that bathes Main Street in blue. Jingle on Downtown, which begins with a lighting ceremony 4:30-6 p.m. Nov. 18 in Court Square, will include holiday-themed Main Street Trolley rides. The Downtown Memphis Commission is redirecting its Christmas parade budget into decor and activities that help merchants throughout the season, vice president of marketing Leslie Gower said.
