Shelby Farms New Playground Gets Recognition:

The new Woodland Discovery Playground in Shelby Farms Park Conservancy has won national recognition for its sustainable design, construction and maintenance. The $3.5 million playground, which opened last spring, was one of the first pilot projects to be certified by the Sustainable Sites Initiative. The Sites initiative is an interdisciplinary effort led by the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, and the United States Botanic Garden to create a voluntary, national rating system and guidelines for sustainable landscapes of all types, with or without buildings.  To continue reading, click here.
