Riverboat News Points to Upswing Along River:

The announcement that the Great American Steamboat Co. would open its headquarters in Memphis and the city would be homeport for The American Queen made a splash. Revenue from its passenger boarding fee will pay to complete Beale Street Landing, where docks in April. Another cruise company, American Cruise Lines is letting travel agents know its sternwheeler, “Queen of the Mississippi,” will make a New Orleans to Memphis run in a year. “We’re in the process of sending them permitting information and other things,” said Bennie Lendermon, president of the Riverfront Development Corp.
