Memphis Bioworks gets $3.7M federal grant for jobs training:
Memphis Bioworks Foundation has received $3.7 million of $159.2 million in grants the U.S. Department of Labor has awarded to 36 public-private organizations around the country. It was the only Tennessee-based organization to receive funding. The grants are funded under the H-1B Technical Skills Training Grant Competition, and will provide education, training and job placement assistance related to high-growth fields such as advanced manufacturing, energy, health care and information technology. Memphis Bioworks Foundation is also administering a $2.9 million Department of Labor Energy Training Partnership Grant under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that was awarded in January 2010.
