Although Memphis is a minority-majority city, minority business revenues make up only a small percentage of revenue in Shelby County. Luke Yancy, president and CEO of the Memphis Minority Business Council Continuum, believes developing far-reaching networks is paramount to success for any small business. “If you think of a multi-generational business that’s majority-owned, many of them have become public companies because they’ve developed and they’ve sold,” Yancy said.
