Memphian Carolyn Hardy took a risk and saved one of the nation's leading breweries: When Carolyn Hardy stuck her neck out five years ago to borrow big and buy the 1.3 million-square-foot Molson-Coors brewery, she saw an opportunity and wanted to keep the Hickory Hill plant from closing. There's little doubt that if she had not taken the $9 million risk, some other company would have scavenged the equipment and turned the shell into a warehouse, said Mark Herbison, Greater Memphis Chamber's senior vice president for economic development.
