What is the Workforce Leadership Series?

The Workforce Leadership Series was created in response to your desire for more workforce development programming. We listened and created a four-part series on topics that matter to you most.

The second part of our series, From the Front Lines to the Front Office: Leveraging Veteran Hires to Grow Your Business, launches Wednesday, May 21, and provides you with the critical information you need to attract and hire veteran candidates. Cliff Yager, the founder and managing partner of The Straight Skinny, has worked as a Military Educational Advisor for companies like Apple Inc. teaching how to transition military personnel to re-enter the workforce. You can register for the event here.

These veterans have a unique skill-set that can be translated to successful job placement in your business. Through this program, you can develop a clear understanding of the veteran culture and learn how to integrate these service men and women into your company. I guarantee they will have an immediate impact on the leadership, accountability and revenue in your organization.

The workshop will also feature a panel on the Work Opportunity Tax Credit and other incentives for businesses in Tennessee who hire veterans. The panel will be headed by Roger Littlejohn from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development and Ernie Lombardi of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Hiring Our Heroes.

The program will occur the day before the 2014 Hiring Our Heroes Job Fair, where companies like yours can meet hundreds of veterans and other military job seekers. Last year 50 veterans came away with job offers, including Teresa Young, a former automated logistics specialist in the Army who now works as a Pre-Load Operation Supervisor at UPS.
