Our Worker's Compensation Reform Statement

The Greater Memphis Chamber supports Governor Haslam’s efforts to reform Tennessee’s workers’ compensation system that is inhibiting job growth and frustrating both Tennessee employers and employees. The bill, sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris, will help alleviate burdensome claims that often take too long to resolve, increases cost, and can cause delays in employees returning to work, receiving payment of claims and doctor visits.

We support eliminating court review and a move to a purely administrative review process to ensure a neutral standard (neither favoring employers nor employees) and eliminating the use of a multiplier in case awards.

“We join our colleagues in supporting workers’ compensation reforms that create a more stable environment for business investment and job creation,” said John Moore, president and CEO, Greater Memphis Chamber.
