Making Memphis Happen: Transformation in 2017

2017 is already on its way to being halfway over. So much has already been accomplished and thanks to YOU, as a member of the Chamber, we’re making huge progress for our community and your business. It is YOU as our members meeting with state legislators on important issues. It is YOU as our members participating in our workshops. It is YOU as our members paying your membership dues to support your Chamber, helping your fellow Memphians live a better life.

The Chamber focuses all of its goals each year towards providing economic growth for all.  Whether it’s slashing the barriers for a minority or woman-owned firm to get certified, promoting job fairs to young Memphians, or connecting our small business members to opportunities, it’s vital that everyone in Memphis have access to making a better life for themselves and their families.

How the IMPROVE Act will Affect Your Business

The Chamber’s Public Policy team works for you to help create a business-friendly environment so your business can thrive in Memphis. There is a current issue that affects our local economy and thousands of employers in the Memphis region: the need for infrastructure investment.   Governor Haslam has proposed the IMPROVE Act (Improve Manufacturing, Public Roads and Opportunities for a Vibrant Economy) that will fund critically needed improvements to our infrastructure.  We support this proposal not only because of the tremendous investment it will allow directly in Memphis, but also because of the tax reductions that it provides to bring more jobs to our community which will help our businesses grow.

LIVE BLOG: Memphis Delegation Visits Washington D.C.

At the Greater Memphis Chamber, we work year round to advocate for issues that will help Memphis grow, allow small businesses to be successful and to provide a high quality of life for everyone in Memphis. We will be in Washington D.C. this week to meet with Senators and Congressman to talk about issues that are important to the Memphis business community. We brought some of our members and business leaders along as we work to maintain great relationships with our elected officials and provide a face to the people impacted by these laws.

I'll be keeping you updated on what's happing here in DC in the live blog below, but you can also follow along on our Twitter account (@memphischamber) as well as our Instagram Stories (also @memphischamber). Or check out the hashtag #MEM2DC. The most recent update will be at the top, and you can scroll down to the bottom to read them in chronological order.
