Everything You Need to Know About the Affordable Care Act

On October 17, the Small Business Council held a breakfast for nearly 200 Memphis businesses and representatives regarding the Affordable Care Act.  Prior to the government shutdown, I was approached by the District Director of the Small Business Administration. He was so impressed that the Chamber knew the importance of this topic and its effect on Small Businesses that he himself wanted to be the Keynote speaker. Of course, I was honored to have the program noticed in Nashville and agreed to let Mr. Walter Perry proceed as the keynote speaker.  With Mr. Perry on board, I began lining up the rest of our panel experts which were to include: Patrick Pilch, CPA, Managing Director of BDO New York; Andy Nix, Principal, PeopleCap; Craig Cowart, Partner, Fisher & Phillips, LLP; and Joan Vines, CPA, Tax Senior Director, BDO Washington DC.

Once the government shutdown took place and I realized that Mr. Walter Perry would more than likely not be able to be our keynote, I immediately asked if Patrick Pilch, the Managing Director of BDO New York, would be interested in stepping up to the role. He thankfully agreed, and the program stayed on track.

Our expert panelists spoke and answered questions regarding the how, who, and whys of everything ACA.  Because this is such an important topic and was such a success with our guests, I wanted the information that was presented to be shared with anyone that might still have some questions.  Below you will find Patrick’s presentation along with what Joan calls the “ACA Employer Playbook”.

Please feel free to contact if there is anything I can help you with regarding the Chamber or the Small Business Council.
