The Greater Memphis Chamber Hosts 14 National Economic Development Officials At Annual Blue Carpet Tour

Memphis, Tenn.— Every year, the Greater Memphis Chamber invites top national economic development consultants (called site selectors) to Memphis for our Blue Carpet Tour, which takes place this year from Tuesday, December 8 - Thursday, December 10th. These consultants are some of the top real estate and site selection professionals from some of the best companies in the country, including Deloitte Tax, NAI Robert Lynn, CB Richard Ellis and McCallum Sweeney, among others. Each year, this group of people represent a significant portion of relocation and expansion projects looking to locate in cities across the nation. The site selectors attending are coming from cities around the country including: Greenville, South Carolina; Lakeway, Texas; New Orleans, Louisiana; Corona, California; Los Angeles, California; Atlanta, Georgia; New York City, New York and Dallas, TX.

This special, invitation-only three day event showcases Memphis’ industry assets including a helicopter tour and visit to the FedEx World Hub. Presentations are given by top Memphis business leaders as well as top elected officials in Memphis, Shelby County and the State of Tennessee.  This year includes a presentation on the Memphis Regional Megasite and a meet and greet at the Memphis Grizzlies vs. OKC Thunder game on December 8th.

The Chamber’s Economic Development department provides information to these consultants year round for potential projects to come to Memphis, bringing jobs and investment to our community.

From 2013-2015, the Chamber’s Economic Development Team has secured 17,665 jobs and $1.34 billion in capital investment through projects the team specifically worked on and many of these include projects with site selection consultants.
For more than 175 years, the Greater Memphis Chamber has been the lead economic development organization for Memphis/Shelby County, and is a private, non-profit, membership-driven organization comprised of 2,200 business enterprises, civic organizations, educational institutions and individuals.
