The Greater Memphis Chamber Generated $100 Million In New Business

Less than 18 months ago the Greater Memphis Chamber launched a new program for its members, RFP (Request for Proposal) Central, and announced today that the program has awarded over $100 million in new business to the member companies of the Greater Memphis Chamber.

RFP Central was conceived by the Greater Memphis Chamber in partnership with Onvia, Inc. one of the nation’s leading provider of public and private bid notification services. Each business day, the Chamber delivers notifications for request for proposals and bid applications released corporations, organizations, federal, state, and local governmental agencies, educational institutions and include projects funded by the government‘s economic recovery plan.

“The main focus of the Chamber is to generate economic growth for our members and our community. We are delivering incredible business opportunities for our existing companies,” said John Moore, President and CEO, Greater Memphis Chamber. “To realize $100 million in new business in less than 18 months, speaks volumes for the success of RFP Central.” We are currently at the table to expand the program and its outreach to capture even more business opportunities for our members. “

RFP Central is provided as a basic benefit of Chamber membership. In addition to receiving a daily e-newsletter announcing current opportunities, Chamber member companies can also submit their own RFPs for products and services.

Currently RFP Central geographical service area includes the eight counties which make up the Memphis MSA - Shelby, Tipton, and Fayette in Tennessee; Crittenden in Arkansas; Desoto, Marshall, Tate and Tipton in Mississippi.

For many of our small businesses that have been awarded contracts, it would be financially out of reach for them to secure the level of service RFP Central provides for free. Based in Nashville, AP&T has regional offices and distribution centers in Memphis, TN, Knoxville, TN, and Little Rock, AR. They also provide products to their national accounts through their membership with Network Services, a national buying and marketing group.
