11/18/2009 - McKesson Corporation Essential To Memphis Business Landscape

With over 800 employees and a presence in Memphis since the 1940’s, McKesson Drug will be the first company to go through the Memphis/Shelby County Industrial Development Board’s Retention Payment‐In‐Lieu‐Of‐Taxes (PILOT) Program. (The retention program will give companies operating in Memphis for at least ten years the opportunity to gain PILOT benefits under certain conditions.) If the full project comes to fruition, McKesson will invest over $186 million to build a new state‐of‐the art, energy‐efficient, logistic and supply‐chain headquarters in Memphis.

8/28/2009 - Fred Smith to Receive Chamber's Global Leadership Award. Award to be Presented at Global Leadership Series with Dr. Condoleezza Rice.

The Greater Memphis Chamber, along with its International Business Council, has named Frederick W. Smith, Chairman, President and CEO, FedEx Corporation, with the first Global Leadership Award. The award will be presented during the Global Leadership Series Dinner with special guest Dr. Condoleezza Rice on Tuesday, September 15. Smith will be in attendance to receive the award.

3/31/2009 - New Free Government Bid and RFP Notification Service for Chamber Members

The Greater Memphis Chamber has partnered with Onvia, Inc., a leading provider of public and private bid notification services to provide members access to timely, relevant new business opportunities each business day. Starting Tuesday, March 31, the Greater Memphis Chamber will deliver new government bids and RFPs to member companies that opt into the service. The notifications will be part of the Chamber’s eNewsletter and will include actual project information forstate, local, and education bids, RFPs including notification of projects funded by the government economic stimulus plan.
