5 Things We're Looking Forward to at the Memphis Americana Picnic

Remember that time we introduced Music Export Memphis (MEM)? It’s an initiative to create opportunities for Memphis musicians across the U.S. and abroad. It’s also an important tool in our efforts to recruit and retain talented individuals (and their companies) who desire to live in creative cities.
On Saturday, September 24th, we get to see MEM kick off at the AmericanaFest in Nashville, Tennessee. The Memphis Americana Picnic will take place at The Filming Station between 12:00 – 6:00 PM for badge and wristband holders, and it’s going to be an authentic Memphis celebration. Here are five things we’re looking forward to:
#1 The Music.
This is what the day is all about, and this line-up will not disappoint:
  • Memphis Ukulele Band
  • Mark Edgar Stuart
  • Deering & Down
  • Motel Mirrors
  • The Bo-Keys
  • Rev. John Wilkins and His Three Daughters
No Depression’s Insider’s Guide to AmericanFest even listed Motel Mirrors at the top of their list of not-to-miss acts.

#2 The Food.
You may come to Memphis for the music, but you usually stay for the food. So any celebration of the Bluff City would be incomplete without the grub. At the Americana Picnic, attendees will get to taste the southern flavor of BB King's and one of our favorite delicacies – MEMPopS!
#3 The Beer.
Music. Food. Beer. Enough said, right? But it’s not just any beer. Big thanks to Memphis Made Brewing Company for making sure we have plenty of Rockbone IPA flowing throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
#4 The Fun.
In between sets, attendees can take funky photos in the Amurica trailer – stocked with every prop they could ever need or imagine to forever capturing their afternoon of Memphis music. Also on hand will be the I Love Memphis mobile mural and Indie Memphis will be screening Memphis music videos indoors.
#5 The Giveaways.
One of the lucky attendees will receive a gift basket stuffed full of Memphis goodies. Gift cards, food, albums – it’s any Memphis music lover’s dream.
