Election Day is November 4th!

Election Day is coming up on November 4th and it is important that you make your voice heard.  The Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee supports two amendments on the upcoming ballot that affect the business community:

Constitutional Amendment 2:
This amendment brings greater clarity and accountability to the way we select the state's appellate court judges so we get the fair and impartial judges that Tennesseans want and need.  This amendment has received bipartisan support from leaders across our state. Read more about this amendment in our blog.

City of Memphis Proposed Ordinance No. 5512:
The proposed changes to the City of Memphis’ Civil Service System to streamline the process and allow performance to be considered in personnel evaluations are a step toward ensuring that we have a more efficient government.  The amendment is important to improve the civil service system by allowing government to make better, more efficient decisions when dealing with employees.  In order to take effect, this amendment must be approved by the voters in the upcoming election.  The ballot language and a summary of the changes is included here.

The Chamber advocates for issues that help create jobs and foster economic growth for our community. Make your voice heard by voting on November 4th.
