2014 Young Memphian: Eddie Fuchs, Vaco Logistics

The following is a profile from our summer issue of Memphis Crossroads Magazine: 2014 Young Memphis. Click here to view the entire magazine with profiles from our other nine Young Memphians.

One of the things Eddie Fuchs likes most about his new position as an executive recruiter at Vaco Logistics is that he often gets to be the bearer of great news.

“Everybody wants to be accepted, and that’s what a job offer is. That’s somebody saying, ‘We like you as a person, we like what you do, we’re accepting you and we want you to be one of us.’ And people like hearing that,” said Fuchs, who matches talented job candidates with fitting positions in the logistics industry. “It’s nice to be that medium, to convey that information to a job candidate.”

Fuchs’ enthusiasm for logistics extends beyond his job. He’s also a board member of the Memphis World Trade Club, an organization of Memphis professionals in the international trade industry.

“It’s a group of people who are similarly-minded in that we enjoy transportation and logistics and we are passionate about not only that industry, but our city as a whole,” Fuchs said. “Our goal is to connect Memphis business professionals, mainly so people can get together and network and bounce ideas off each other so we can all work together to make Memphis the best logistics hub it can be.”

A true Memphis enthusiast, Fuchs moved here in 1998 to attend Christian Brothers University.

“I love everything about Memphis. I love the atmosphere, I love where I live in Midtown, and I love being able to just venture out and meet the people,” Fuchs said. “Memphis is so diverse and has so many different people, and that’s what makes it such a wonderful city.”

His advice to other young professionals: “Find something you enjoy doing and be passionate about it, whether it’s getting involved in an organization like I did or just getting out there and being the best you can be.”
