TechCamp is a Technology Conference and a Whole Lot More

TechCamp is an annual community event put on by GEEKmemphis that offers educational and networking opportunities for technology users at all levels, including business owners, IT professionals, bloggers, marketers, designers, and students. More than just a conference, TechCamp is designed to increase the awareness, adoption, and advancement of technology in the greater Memphis community of citizens and businesses.

In order to accomplish this, TechCamp pulls together local experts who speak on a variety of topics grouped into three tracks: marketing, design, and development. A 101 developer track is also offered, targeting high school and college students who are interested in exploring a career as a developer. This track has proven popular with STEM students in particular.

This year sees the addition of the innovation track (beta) which will feature interactive panel discussions that take an initial idea for a product or service and walk through the different design, development, and marketing phases to turn a concept into reality.  It’s perfect for innovators, start-ups, and the entrepreneur-to-be who wants to understand how different elements of technology work together in a real-world scenario.

One unique component about this year’s TechCamp is the pay-what-you-like pricing model. The goal is for TechCamp to be accessible to everyone so this year attendees can pay what they want (starting at $5 in increments of $5).

This year’s camp is Saturday, November 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Southwest Tennessee Community College Macon campus. More information is available at and via Twitter at @TechCampMemphis. LunaWeb has been involved with TechCamp and GeekMemphis since their inception and it has proven to be a great way to give back to the community and to help Memphis advance.
