Young Memphis Spotlight: Danny Mincey

If you haven't yet heard about some of these young leaders, you will soon enough.

These 10 powerhouses – the Young Memphians Class of 2013 -- are making a mark, driven by passion for their work and a desire to raise the stakes for Memphis. As a result, these influential professionals are making the best kind of difference in a town that increasingly looks for innovation and energy.

Memphis requires the mix of entrepreneurship, dedication and spunk found in these 10 dynamos. Some are homegrown, some out-of-towners. They’re involved in the community outside their work, and they have ideas on how to make Memphis a better all-around place.

Division Recruiter, Power Transformer Division, Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc.

Danny came to Memphis at 19, knowing nobody. Ten years later, with school and a variety of pursuits to his credit, he's now responsible for getting the right people into the right job at Mitsubishi Electric. "As a recruiter, the main thing is being able to help people and seeing people pursue their dreams," he says. He handles the entire recruiting process from job approval to hire for Mitsubishi’s new power transformer plant. Danny says the important thing is, "You have to know what's going on in every business and every market, not just yours. Sourcing is one of the things I like to brag about — getting out into the community."

And Danny is an active booster of the community. "The main thing is the Southern hospitality here," he says. "There's always something to do whether in the arts and theater, dining, sports — I could talk all day." And he's committed to giving back as well. "I'd like to see more people get involved with volunteer efforts in the community. Set out some time."
