Bridge Lights Off; City Of Memphis On

Memphis, Tennessee - As the rain continued through the day, Mayor A C Wharton, Jr. once again convened City Division Directors earlier today to be briefed on preparations and responses relative to the local weather conditions and rising water levels being experienced across the city.

Of the updates shared, one of the more notable issues was brought by Memphis Light Gas and Water (MLGW) relative the lights on the Hernando de Soto Bridge.

Sunday night, MLGW shut off the electricity to the decorative lights on the I-40 Hernando de Soto Bridge and removed the underground transformer that powers those lights.
