Board of Advisor Spotlight: Orion Federal Credit Union

In each issue of Memphis Crossroads, we highlight a Board of Advisor level member, showcasing their important role in the Chamber as well as the business community. Trevia Chatman, Business Development Officer for Orion Federal Credit Union shares why her company is part of the Chamber as well as some benefits of doing business in Memphis.

1. Why did you join the Chamber?
Memphis isn’t just the place we do business - it’s our home. We want to help take care of it and help it grow, so it’s important to us to be an active contributor to our community. Being a member of the Chamber gives us the information and connections we need to accomplish that initiative.
2. What are the benefits of doing business in Memphis?
Orion’s mission is to improve the financial lives of our members. We couldn’t honestly say we are dedicated to that mission if we didn’t have a presence in the same neighborhoods where our members live, where their children go to school, and where they need support. Doing business in Memphis allows us to have a finger on the pulse of what’s going on in our city and to be part of what’s happening right now – whether that’s partnering with the City on initiatives like the Homebuyer’s Incentive Program, being involved with the newly created Shelby County Schools Whitehaven Empowerment Zone, or being one of the first retail entrants in a rising neighborhood like the Medical District. We believe we have to invest in the place our members call home if we want their business in return. That means doing business in Memphis and giving back to our city however we can.
