Inner City Capital Connections - Apply Now!

Small businesses make up the heart of Memphis economy and almost 90% of our membership. That’s why we’re always looking for resources to help our small businesses grow and succeed. When we heard about Inner City Capital Connections (ICCC), we couldn’t wait to share it with you.

ICCC is a national program designed to help small businesses in economically distressed areas access capital, achieve sustainable growth and provide a forum where small businesses can connect with debt and equity providers.

The executive education seminar will be held in Memphis at the FedEx Institute of Technology on Thursday, August 14, 2014 and led by Harvard Business School Professor Stephen Rogers. The sessions will cover topics such as:
  • entrepreneurial finance
  • valuation methodologies and raising capital
  • financial matrices
  • strategy
  • growth through acquisition
  • talent management
  • negotiation for contracts
  • marketing and sales
  • components of an investor pitch
  • debt and equity finance

The 690 companies who have participated in ICCC have raised over $1 billion of capital, increased their annual revenue by 46% and created 4,977 jobs. Of these companies, 82% secured their capital within the first two years.

Sandra Walls, owner of AVPOL International, began participating in ICCC in 2011. She said the program taught her the skills she needed to become more than just another transaction in the eyes of banks. After completing the program, she was able to develop a relationship with her banker and receive a $1.2 million line of credit.

“I highly recommend this program to any company serious about growing their business,” Walls said. “You get to learn and interact with the most credible people in the industry and they are serious about helping you obtain relationships with investors.”

To participate in this amazing opportunity your company must meet the following qualifications:
  1. 1. Independent, for-profit corporation, partnership or proprietorship
  2. 2. Inner city location – headquarters or 51%+ of physical operations in economically distressed urban areas of the U.S. or have 40% or more of your employees residing in an economically distressed area.
  3. 3. Revenues of $2 million or more in 2013

If you or a company you know would be perfect for this opportunity, they can complete an application here. All applications must be in before Monday, July 21, 2014.
