Board of Advisor Spotlight: NEXSTAR BROADCASTING

In each Memphis Crossroads Magazine, we highlight a Board of Advisor level member showcasing their important role in the Chamber as well as the business community. Ardy Diercks, Vice President/General Manager of WATN-TV/WLMT-TV Memphis, TN, WJKT-TV Jackson, TN with Nexstar Broadcasting shares with us why they joined the Chamber and the benefits of doing business in Memphis.

Why did you join the Chamber?

When I arrived in Memphis a little over a year ago, my very first visitor was a representative of the Greater Memphis Chamber welcoming me to Memphis! Although we were already a member of the Chamber, I would have absolutely made the choice to join as it became apparent very quickly how important the membership and the staff could be to the team here at Local24 and CW30.

As we began to build a new station, hire over 44 employees and resurrect our local news product, the access to businesses and especially business leaders was instrumental in finding partners and trusted companies to assist in all aspects of the rebuild. Tapping in to our Chamber membership is key to any business’ success in the Greater Memphis area and the staff of the Chamber is the conduit to introductions and access. As an added bonus, I also quickly learned about all the fabulous places to eat!

After consuming my new city and falling in love with it, I launched a one hour program completely dedicated to celebrating Memphis.  “Local Memphis Live” airing weekdays at 9am is the only non-news program that is dedicated to the culture, lifestyle, food, music and fun of our city!

Name 2-3 benefits of doing business in Memphis:

Serving such a diverse community allows us to develop programming and product that appeals to a broad demographic and expands our revenue opportunities for maximum profit.

The Mid-South really cares about each other and the needs of all people in our community. This compassion helps businesses to serve communities beyond the business model and elevates their profile. We launched “Local Cares” as an umbrella campaign and now partner with many businesses who want to succeed in their business by giving back!
