Rewind with Governor Haslam and Mayor Wharton

"A Conversation With..." Memphis Mayor A C Wharton Jr.

The Greater Memphis Chamber hosted City of Memphis Mayor A C Wharton Jr. for our "Conversation With" series in January at the Cook Convention Center. He had recently delivered his "State of the City" speech where he outlined his 100-day plan, so this was an excellent opportunity for guests to ask him specific questions and get candid answers.

Lunch with Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam

Governor Bill Haslam visited the Bluff City, and sat down to lunch with around 300 guests to present his "State of the State" overview. He is currently on tour around Tennessee to give localized perspective on his priorities, so he stopped in Memphis to discuss his current vision for state legislation and how it will affect Memphis directly.

The Greater Memphis Chamber's 2012 Legislative Agenda

Our Board of Directors established the Government Affairs Review Council (GARC) to serve as the advocacy arm of the Chamber and our members. For each branch of the government, the GARC, with the approval of the Board, presents its legislative agenda to our elected officials. These two agendas, one for Federal and one for State, describe the issues that we believe will impact our region over the next couple of years and present our views from the perspective of the business community. You can download our full State Legislative Agenda from our Publications page.

It's important that our membership and business owners involve themselves in influencing political issues that affect our region. You can learn more about the GARC be visiting our council overview page, or contact your representatives directly by visiting VoteForMemphis.com.
