How "Memphis: The Musical" helps to "drive" the city

In the Winter 2012 edition of Memphis Crossroads Magazine, we outline some "Memphis Drivers." We're not talking about local motorists who occasionally make our commute a bit overly interesting. No, these are Memphis' top economic drivers, those events that prove the vitality of the city even in this time of a rough global economy.

One of those "drivers" was the Tony Award-winning production of "Memphis: The Musical." In our interview, Pat Halloran, president and CEO of the Orpheum Theater, discusses how opening the musical in its namesake city brought in more than just ticket sales, and how it's scheduled to come back!

Here's a little taste of the award-winning phenomenon that is "Memphis: The Musical."

To read more about "Memphis Drivers," pick up the Winter 2012 edition of Memphis Crossroads Magazine, available on newstands soon.

Memphis Crossroads, the Chamber's quarterly economic development magazine, is available free at select locations throughout Memphis (including Schnuck's markets), via mail for Chamber members and at the Chamber's offices on the 2nd floor of the Falls Building, 22 N. Front Street.
