Young Memphis Spotlight: Carrie Rundhaug

If you haven't yet heard about some of these young leaders, you will soon enough.

These 10 powerhouses – the Young Memphians Class of 2013 -- are making a mark, driven by passion for their work and a desire to raise the stakes for Memphis. As a result, these influential professionals are making the best kind of difference in a town that increasingly looks for innovation and energy.

Memphis requires the mix of entrepreneurship, dedication and spunk found in these 10 dynamos. Some are homegrown, some out-of-towners. They’re involved in the community outside their work, and they have ideas on how to make Memphis a better all-around place.

Business is part of Carrie's DNA: Her businessman father inspired her; his three brothers were financial officers, and several of her first cousins majored in business. So it's little wonder that soon after moving here, she bought an office supply company and, with her husband as account manager, is taking it to the next level.

"We liked the feel of the company," she says, "and it has a family feel, which we wanted." MROS is a full-solution network providing everything office related from paper to promotions to printing to furniture. But as much as Carrie loves her business, she's also passionate about her Delta Delta Delta alumni chapter. "The Tri-Delt philanthropy is St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and I participate in anything St. Jude has to offer here and other places," she says.

Carrie, who grew up in another river town - Vicksburg - loves being in a big city with a small town feel. "We like being part of the culture of Memphis," she says. "We eat downtown, go to concerts and there's something going on every weekend."
