MEMPHIS CROSSROADS: Ambassador Spotlight - Chris Jarvis, Trustmark Bank

The following is a feature from the fall issue of the Memphis Crossroads digital magazine. Click here to view the full magazine.

Each issue of Memphis Crossroads we highlight one of our Ambassadors, our volunteer organization that serves as the official host for the Greater Memphis Chamber events. These Ambassadors are quick to greet you at the door, direct you to where you need to go or introduce you to a new contact. Each represent Chamber member companies dedicated to our mission to drive the business agenda for Greater Memphis. This issue we would like to introduce to you to our Chamber Ambassador President, Chris Jarvis, Branch Manager, Trustmark Bank.

Why did you choose to be a Chamber Ambassador?
The role of Chamber Ambassador appealed to me as an opportunity to broaden my service to my employer and to network. It quickly became apparent to me that this is my particular skill and pleasure. Meeting other professionals, merging business needs and matching companies and individuals to exceed their professional goals is not only rewarding but a win, win, win, for everyone. The Ambassador Program is a terrific launch pad for businesses and professionals who are aware of the importance of growth, relationships and information exchange in order to succeed. Whether individuals are new to the marketplace or well established in their fields, new to Memphis or home town folks, we all have the hopes of success that the Chamber can facilitate.

What do you love about living and working in Memphis?
I am a born and raised Memphian. Memphis has evolved over these years into a hub of commercial and consumer opportunities. The diversity of interests - business, culinary, engineering, medical, historical, etc. – has emerged, appealing to an ever expanding multicultural as well as generational demographic. To be a dot on this landscape in this changing economy and play a part in its sustained growth is a once in a life time opportunity. The Mighty Mississippi has always drawn many people to this area. For me, after 45 years, Memphis is still my hometown and will remain for me a big city with a small town heart.
