Demographics
Trying to establish a customer base or determine a new business location? If the answer is yes, you’ll need access to spatially-specific demographic information such as spending habits, income, and educational attainment. The Chamber’s demographic reporting system can provide demographic and consumer expenditure data a variety of geographies and customized to your needs. Click here for more details.
Geography: Your choice – National, State, Metro and Micropolitan areas, county, city/town, zip code, census tract or block group. Custom geographies and location-based demographic reporting is also available.
Timeframe: The most current demographic information available as a current-year estimate (last complete year), five-year projection, and the 2000 and 1990 censuses.
The Data: Standard report includes the following data:
- Population
- Race/ethnicity
- Age
- Household income and size
- Employment
- # of businesses
- Housing units
- Vehicles available
- Marital status
- Educational attainment
- Gender
- Tenure (Rent v. Own)
Other reports include the consumer expenditure, income by age, mature market summary and housing reports.

Maps
Mapping and geographic analysis can be effective business intelligence tools, providing insight on the locations of potential customers, site selection, and a particular area’s market potential. Full color maps are available of the city, county, and metro. These maps can be used in PowerPoint presentations, on web pages, or as part of a marketing campaign. A variety of information can be displayed on the map, for example:
- Population by Zip
- Income by Zip
- Consumer Spending Habits by Zip
- Distance from place of Business to Potential Customers
The Memphis Street Map: An indexed color street map of Memphis and the surrounding communities inside Shelby County. Includes locations of features such as schools, universities, parks, shopping centers, airports and more.

Custom Mapping: Need a map built to your specifications? Perfect for presentations, website and publications graphics. Multiple international, national, and local data layers available such as political boundaries, streets, rail, water features, zip codes, and many more. Target-Marketing Lists**
Now that you’ve determined your customer base, it’s time to implement your marketing plan. The Chamber can provide your business with a list and pre-printed labels of potential sales leads for mailings, cold calling, or data about a specific industry.
Custom Business Lists: Build your own target-marketing list from a database of more than 48,000 businesses in the Memphis metro area. Requires a short consultation with a Chamber research team member to create list filter based on criteria like location, industry, number of employees (range), annual sales volume (range), and public / private status.

Off-the-rack Business Lists: Save time and money by choosing one of our off-the-rack target-marketing lists. Memphis metro area businesses pre-filtered by frequently-requested categories like zip codes, sales volume, number of employees, and other criteria.

Business Labels: By Request. Direct-mail-ready labels based on one of our Off-the-rack Business Lists. Cost of the labels is in addition to the cost of the corresponding list.
Price based on the number of printable labels (shipping & handling included):
- >1 to 2000 labels = $150.00
- 2001 to 4000 labels = $225.00
- 4001 to 6000 labels = $300.00

Consulting Services
Target-Marketing Consultation**: For Members needing a list of businesses outside the Memphis metro area, the Chamber offers target-marketing consultation services. The research team can refine your criteria to build the best possible list of target companies. Restrictions: One target-marketing consultation per company annually. Lists are limited to 2,000 records. Consultation fees are in addition to the price of the list.

At your fingertips desk references offering a convenient hardcopy version of our database products. Access cross-referenced listing of Memphis area businesses in a handy, easy-to-use format.
Membership Directory / Memphis Business Desk Reference: A buyer’s guide to the Memphis metro area in the form of a printed directory of the Chamber’s more than 2,300 member businesses. The guide includes mailing addresses, top contacts, company products and services, primary contact, telephone, fax and web addresses.

Newcomers / Recruitment Package: Selling your product also involves selling all the amenities in our great city. The Chamber can provide your company with marketing materials that will help you sell the city to potential employees, customers, and vendors. These brochures are packed with general information about the city and region, quality of life, business climate, education, and more. They are also available in large quantities upon request.
