As you know, the strongest referrals you get are from someone who knows you personally. When another businessperson has time to get to know you, he or she will have the confidence to start referring you to the important people in his or her network – close friends, neighbors, a brother-in-law, the person they play tennis with. That’s why the Greater Memphis Chamber is introducing a new program called Connect For Lunch.
Each week, Connect For Lunch will enable you to spend an hour or more at lunch with three different Chamber members. During lunch, you’ll have the time to make personal connections with these members, build trust, trade referrals and learn about each other’s businesses.
During the course of a year, you’ll be able to make personal connections with more than 100 different Chamber members.
Here’s how the Connect For Lunch program works:
On Wednesday of each week, you’ll get an email asking if you’d like to go to lunchon a specific day the following week. If you click “yes” in the email, the following Monday you’ll be notified of the name and address of the restaurant, and the names of the three Chamber members you’ll be having lunch with. When you click on the names of the each of your lunch partners, you’ll get to read all about them and their business.
Each member participating in the program will be asked to create a profile for yourself, including your company information which is accessible to those members you are scheduled to meet for lunch through your own Connect For Lunch account.
On the day of your lunch, all you have to do is show up at the restaurant. The reservation will have already been made for you, and your three lunch partners will be waiting to meet you. It’s that easy.
When you all sit down at the table together, you won’t be spending valuable time going around the table introducing yourselves, because you’ll have read about each other beforehand. You will be able to get right down to business making the powerful personal connections that make this program so valuable.

When you return to the office after lunch, you can log in to your online Connect For Lunch account and type in whatever you want to remember from lunch in your online Contact Manager. Your Contact Manager preserves the history of every lunch, with the names of all your lunch partners, the restaurants, the dates, etc. This is available to you 24/7 from anywhere you have an internet connection.
Very shortly, you and every current Chamber member will begin an eight-week introductory period, compliments of the Greater Memphis Chamber. During these eight weeks, you’ll have four opportunities to try Connect For Lunch for free, all you have to pay for is your own lunch.
At the end of the eight weeks, or after you’ve gone to lunch four times, you can continue for the nominal fee of only $9.95 for two lunches a month or $17.95 for four lunches a month. That’s just a little more than what you’d leave for a tip.
